چکیده

Abstract The article presents data from the study of vegetation dynamics in Chornobyl Exclusion Zone 30 years after nuclear disaster and resettlement its local people. 1993 prognostic on further development grass forest community groups this area was only partially correct. new prognosis for demutation successions reflects deviations linear with a possible horizontal "shift", depending climatic conditions, bio-ecological features plants, as well impact fires. Based analysis recent geobotanical studies vegetation, values ecofactors that determine course communities were calculated. In particular, classic succession is now inherent former settlements exclusion zone where formation forests takes place. old fallow lands, previously prevailing Elytrigia repens has lost dominant position, been replaced by Calamagrostis epigejos , which we associate certain deficiency nitrogen compounds soil. allelopathic properties cereals inhibit process replacing ones, affects succession. issues residential areas are considered sequence changes different habitats described. Post-pyrogenic noted capacity invasive plant species to invade natural ecosystems characterized. It emphasized frequent large-scale fires cause significant imbalance ecosystems, result appearance largenumber alien species.

Terrestrial invertebrate population studies in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, Ukraine

The Chernobyl reactor accident in April 1986 released some 3-6.10 TBq Cs and 2-4.10 TBq Sr to atmosphere. About half of this was deposited within 20 km of the site, leading to extensive death of trees and other biota, and the establishment of a human exclusion zone. High levels of contamination remain in this zone. Nonetheless, birch (Betula spp.) and willow (Salix spp.) have recolonised the fo...

Subchronic exposure of BALB/c and C57BL/6 strains of Mus musculus to the radioactive environment of the Chornobyl, Ukraine exclusion zone.

Environmental contamination resulting from the Chornobyl, Ukraine, disaster offers a unique opportunity to examine the in vivo biological effects of chronic, low-dose exposure to radiation. Laboratory studies of acute exposure to ionizing radiation have been used to estimate risk and potential human health effects by the extrapolation of laboratory data to situations of low-dose environmental r...

Blastopathies and microcephaly in a Chornobyl impacted region of Ukraine

This population-based descriptive epidemiology study demonstrates that rates of conjoined twins, teratomas, neural tube defects, microcephaly, and microphthalmia in the Rivne province of Ukraine are among the highest in Europe. The province is 200 km distant from the Chornobyl site and its northern half, a region known as Polissia, is significantly polluted by ionizing radiation. The rates of n...
